Frequently Asked Questions

What ages do you serve?

We are a pediatric facility serving people from birth through approximately 21 years of age. Developmental assessments are available for our youngest children. Counseling services begin for children typically around when they begin kindergarten given developmental requirements for participation. Both assessments and counseling services are available up through college.

What is involved in the assessment process?

The specifics of each assessment may vary, but the general process is typically similar. It starts with an initial intake meeting to discuss your concerns and needs for the assessment. Data will then be collected through questionnaires, record reviews, directly working with your child to complete testing tasks, interviews and observations as needed, etc. After all the data is collected, it will be thoroughly analyzed and organized to draw conclusions and recommendations. We will hold a feedback session to share the information and answer questions, and then a final report will be provided.

How long does it take to complete the assessment process?

The timeline will vary based on the type of assessment requested, the data that needs to be collected, the speed in which questionnaires are completed, scheduling mutually convenient times for intake/testing/feedback sessions, etc. Some assessments, such as a brief gifted assessment, can typically be completed in a day with the feedback and report provided within a day or two. Other assessments, such as comprehensive autism assessments or assessments for considering an intellectual disability, might take two to three weeks to complete the whole process. Regardless of the assessment type, we strive to have a quick turn around time for your feedback and reports as we know that early intervention is critical.

What are your COVID-19 protocols?

The COVID-19 pandemic has been challenging for everyone, and even more so for families who are considered to be at high risk. To mitigate the risk of transmission, I am fully vaccinated and boosted in alignment with CDC guidelines. In the office, we use an air purifier with a HEPA filter and UV light rays to reduce airborne contaminants. Surfaces and materials are cleaned daily with disinfectants approved to kill the SARS-CoV-2 virus per the CDC. In addition, at your request, we are more than happy to wear KN-95 masks when working with you or your child. If you or someone in your family is feeling unwell or tests positive for a contagious virus (COVID, flu, RSV, colds, anything!), we kindly ask that you let us know so we can reschedule our time together. If you need additional safety measures, please give us a call so we can see if we can accommodate your needs.

Do you take insurance?

At this time, we cannot accept insurance. However, we offer multiple methods to pay for services (including cash, Zelle, and credit cards) and are happy to provide you a written invoice that you can submit to your insurance company.
